Your source is biased. The guardian is a left wing paper with it's own agendas.

OH YES, then go RESEARCH IT YOURSELF. This is not about "BLANK IS RIGHT WING"

Both Democrats AND republicans passed this *****, it's no longer about parties its about the fact that a bi-partisan act such as the constitution has just been defiled.

This is no longer about Right vs Left, it's the fact that America is taking direct steps towards becoming a facist nation.

Reality check pelador.

Uhh.. You clearly are NOT up to date with what's going on. Read what the NDAA is capable of. Ignorance is bliss.

American citizens can be detained indefinitely without due process, making America a war zone. Ron Paul said it right in regards to this bill.

The Bill of Rights has no exceptions for really bad people or terrorists or even non-citizens. It is a key check on government power against any person. That is not a weakness in our legal system; it is the very strength of our legal system. The NDAA attempts to justify abridging the Bill of Rights on the theory that rights are suspended in a time of war, and the entire United States is a battlefield in the war on terror. This is a very dangerous development, indeed. Beware.

Do some research you guys talk as if you care, but I'm not seeing it
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! ignorance IS bliss,

let me educate you son...

the japanese americans were held by ROOSEVELT back in the 1940's without due process and elimination of their rights, so were anyone of german and italian descent.

DID you know that communist hopefuls back in the 50's and 60's were held for no good reason and called "enemies" of the government and thrown in jain on POLITICAL auspices? and that was by a SENATOR!!! joseph mccarthy was his name.

so dont tell me Obama has unlocked this UNKNOWN rule when its been going on for almost a hundred years to date as it is.

try again fulgore.

COMPLETELY irrelevant to the NDAA.

You clearly don't understand what's going on if you think that it's no different..

LET ME PUT THIS INTO SIMPLER TERMS FOR YOU.

IT WILL BE 100% LEGAL FOR THEM TO DO WHAT WAS ILLEGAL BEFORE.

IT WAS NOT RIGHT IN THE PAST FOR THEM TO DO THAT.

NOW IT IS 100% ACCEPTABLE BECAUSE IT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW.

The Constitution and bill of rights were in place for a reason, this basically says "YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS. REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU ARE."

BIG BIG difference. JP You're just rambling off at the mouth

Well, Obama had it changed so I couldnt take any citizen, if there is a know terrorist group on American soil it authorizes military force to detain said group. He had changed last week I believe.

It does not protect American citizens at ALL.

(e) AUTHORITIES. -- Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States, or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States.

The key to subsection 1021(e) is its claim that sec. 1021 does not "affect existing law or authorities" relating to the detention of persons arrested on U.S. soil. If the President's expansive view of his own power were in statute, that statement would be true. Instead, the section codifies the President's view as if it had always existed, authorizing detention of "persons" regardless of citizenship or where they are arrested. It then disingenuously says the bill doesn't change that view.

as Justin Amash put it.

It's also note worthy to mention the patriot act, and how it works in conjunction with this act. This basically piggy backs right on it's back.
